There's a price to everything.

Happiness has a cost in today's world.

Unbelievably, it's also true for Aidan.

Behind his every laughter and smile, there's a cost to pay.

And it's paid by his parents ... us.

The cost is the lack of sleep, and the struggle to feed the teething baby.

BUT at the end of the day when daddy and mommy see him happily growing, it's ALL GOOD!  Man, now I really appreciate the creation of God, and the love of my parents. =D

What does he look like when he's not smiling?

They're captured in this 'playing' session.

Yeah, playing is one of Aidan's jobs nowadays.  I'm sure we adult are jealous of him, I'm included.

When he's not smiling, often he still gives us his shocking look.

This is actually another famous look of Aidan, as some of you may know.

He still can't sit for too long on his own, so most of the time his playing time is monitored by mommy.

He's more interested in things that moves, so playing the ball will be a good fit.

He's still easily distracted though, by my flash, for example.

But he'll soon be back to his business.  And he must be very eager to play, judging by his drooling.  =P

And it turns out he's more interested in chewing mommy's palm.

FYI, this disgusted-like look is not related to his chewing of mommy's palm. =P

First Attempt

Aidan has reached his 6 months milestone last week.

This also mark his readiness of taking his FIRST solid food.

His first exposure of solid food is ... well, powder like rice-cereal.

And to make it that much more attractive, we'd add water to the already fine powder!  The final product is ... a paste. =P

But that seems enough to fascinate him, at least that's how we like to think of this expression. =)

This is the 1st series of pictures for this intake.  I'll leave the intepretation up to you.

Weekend Rest

Hah!  I wish!  =D

But a day where I can actually take a picture with Aidan is certainly heart-warming!  Thank you mommy to take up the heavy camera. =)

I got a chance to play with my friend's 50mm f1.8 last week.  And it's fun to play with diffrent depth of field.  Actually, it's always fun to play with any different lens. =P

And all those work, exams and studies from the past few weeks actually robbed me quite some time to observe Aidan's development.

He now can sustain his sitting position a lot longer than before.  And I'm proud!

And just that the other day, he suddenly burst out a lot of laughs when mommy put him into this 'ribbit' clothes.  Too bad we can't consistently reproduce that. =P

That's all for today now (need to head out for dinner w/ mommy's family).

Busted!

There's no surprised baby will chew on anything that comes near their mouth.

This particular baby is no exception, especially when he's teething.  But he's doing it in a sneaky way ...

Look, mommy is not watching, he must seize the opportunity chewing on his 'dining table'.

But he must keep a watchful eye while enjoying his 'sinful' activity.

And this must be a very soothing experience for him.  And being naughty must be a good feeling!  =)

Yeah, mommy is busy preparing him food, while he's enjoying his plastic chewing.

Until he knows someone else is watching ...

And capturing his crime.  You're busted, Mister! =D

An afternoon walk

This is not the first time Aidan had his 'walk' at the street.  I'm sure mommy does that whenever she has a chance.

But this is the first time he doesn't need his car seat attach to his stroller.  And the first time I get to go with them WITH my camera with me.

So I get a chance to finally take some pictures of the mom and son outside.

And also some urban nature.

A New Face

When Aidan was approaching his 6 months, he has developed a new expression.

We called this a sucking lip face.  (yeah yeah, we're not very creative in naming...)

He show this face quite often nowadays as he's about the age to grow his teeth.

And I believe this expression actually help him sooth himself.  Well, as long as this can help him whine/cry less.  I'm all good. =)

Look!  He even does that when he's enjoying his shower too!

Capture while it lasts

As Aidan gets bigger, it gets more difficult to capture his big laughter.

Part of it is because he moves a lot nowadays...

And the other part is his expression isn't as dramatic as before.

I think it's because his fat on his face makes him harder to show his smiling face.  =P

So I tried hard to capture his laughing expression while it last.

Grandma remains Aidan's greatest entertainment of all time.

And this is my greatest opportunity to capture his memorable laughter.

But even when he's 6 months, Aidan still mostly laughs without making much noise.

Which is not bad, as this will certainly be another new thing that makes me smile, when he actually laughs with some sound. =)

Our whole family is waiting ...
